The IREM® (Institute of Real Estate Management) Foundation supports people and organizations working to advance the real estate and property management profession. Through our grant programs, we fund research, education, sustainability, workforce development, access to careers, diversity, and strategic partnerships that help real estate managers and the communities they serve thrive.

Whether you’re exploring a new idea, testing an IREM chapter program, conducting research, or launching a sustainability project, we welcome thoughtful proposals with clear goals, measurable outcomes, and meaningful impact.

  • Aveni Center for Research Grants

    About

    Aveni Center for Research Grants support studies that provide real estate managers with knowledge they can use to better manage properties and support thriving communities. These grants are open to IREM members, non-members, researchers, academic institutions, associations, workforce development partners, corporate partners, and other individuals or organizations with the ability to contribute valuable research to the field.

    Eligibility

    Applications are reviewed for alignment with IREM Foundation strategic priorities, likelihood of success, number of people impacted, creativity and forward-thinking approaches, measurable outcomes, engagement opportunities, visibility for the Foundation, and relevance to industry needs and thriving communities. Up to two $10,000 awards may be made each year, with total annual funding not to exceed $20,000.

  • Elaina’s Sustainability Fund Grants

    About

    Elaina’s Sustainability Fund Grants support projects that improve the environmental footprint of commercial real estate. These grants encourage sustainability and occupant wellness initiatives in the buildings where people live, work, shop, and play.

    Eligibility

    Grants may be awarded to IREM members, real estate managers, building owners, tenants, residents, students, and faculty of academic institutions. Preference is given to creative, innovative projects and to applicants who may not otherwise have the resources to put their ideas into action. Applications are reviewed for anticipated reduction in energy or natural resource use, ability to measure results, demonstrated need, project impact, number of people impacted, and the ability to sustain results over time. Grant requests may range between $500 - $5,000.

  • Robert K. and Gladys M. Beal Chapter Grants

    About

    Beal Chapter Grants help IREM chapters test creative ways to deliver IREM education and attract or retain members. Preference is given to ideas that could be scaled or adapted by other markets.

    Application process

    Applications must be submitted jointly by the chapter IAE and chapter president. Proposals are reviewed for alignment with the Beals’ vision of advancing IREM education, alignment with IREM Foundation strategic priorities, innovation, charitable purpose, member engagement, visibility for the Foundation, measurable outcomes, likelihood of success, and scalability. Grant requests may be made for up to $5,000.

  • General Fund Grants

    About

    General Fund Grants support programs that align with the IREM Foundation’s mission and strategic priorities, including workforce development, access to careers, education, sustainability, diversity, and strategic partnerships. Grants may support IREM-led initiatives as well as work led by external partners.

    Eligibility

    Eligible applicants may include IREM, IREM chapters, 501(c)(3) organizations, 501(c)(6) organizations, academic institutions, companies, and individuals. Applications are reviewed for alignment with Foundation priorities, likelihood of success, charitable purpose, innovation, measurable outcomes, engagement opportunities, visibility for the Foundation, and relevance or timeliness of the proposed work.

Grant cycle

The IREM Foundation reviews grant applications three times each year.

March 1 award cycle: Applications due by December 31 of the prior year.
July 1 award cycle: Applications due by April 30.
November 1 award cycle: Applications due by August 31.
